I don't know about this one. He claims there is ivory in the point and the joint. Joint, possible, prongs, never. Might be a nutter.

THE RINGS ARE ACTUALLY DISCS MADE OF IVORY FIBER (ivory shavings), PRONGS ARE SAME , COLLAR & DICE ARE RECONSTITUTED IVORY
NOW - THAT'S WHAT McDERMOTT TELLS ME

some open questions

i guess, some people around would like to know, how you are standing by the accusations made in other posts, me included.

otherwise you might not find any buyers for 'your' cues...

no accusations...the TRUTH is this person ripped off a few forum members and was banned.. and then made came on under a different name every few weeks only to be banned again..

some people dont get the hint that they are not welcome here...

maybe if they took car e of the people they ripped off and made things right.. it would be possible to forgive and forget.. but it doesnt seem like they want to do the right thing.

I have owned and sold 3 of these cues. The rings are made of "Ivory Fiber" and the dice are ivory, the dice inlays are actually made of 6 ivory diamonds arranged to make the dice design.

Here is the specs of most of these cues - designs vary with stain and wraps.

ORIGINAL 1984 D-19 specs

Forearm -West African ebony
Sleeve - West African ebony
Inlays - 36 total - West African ebony and recon. ivory
Points - 6 West African ebony and recon. ivory (I bleieve the veneers are Ivory shavings)
Joint style - Wood-to-wood (NOT IVORY)
Joint size - 3/8x10 stainless steel
Rings - 8 ivory fiber

Last year, McDermott introduced the retro D-19 Limited Edition (150), which did not have the ivory fiber rings - the rings are made of nickel.

2007 D-19 Retro Limited Edition
- Highly Figured Birdseye Maple Forearm
- 4 Recon Ebony/Ivory Points
- Recon Ebony Sleeve with 8 Recon Ivory Dice
- 24 Total Sleeve Inlays
- Genuine White/Black Irish Linen Wrap
- 10 Nickel Silver Rings
- Engraved Butt Plate with Edition Number
- Certificate of Authenticity
- Limited Edition of 150

Side by side comparison...

I looked at the cue at the e-bay link and it appears to be in excellent condition. This cue originally retailed for $340 and has appreciated 244% in value - one in mint condition should sell for about $1170. The McDermott site has several of these available for re-sale (in less than mint condition) prices will vary. Its a great cue at any price - UNLESS IT'S ANOTHER RIP OFF.

i have no doubt about it.

i'm just wondering, how he just starts over creating new threads, trying to sell cues without any attempt of justification!? not a single word...

does he think about us, we're all closing our trousers with pincers?

is he just deaf, dumb and blind?

maybe retarded?

question upon question...

PETER'S FUNNY! :)

I'm sure that Ivory was available as a joint material as a custom add, but the standard wasn't ivory. Ivory shavings instead of holly or phenolic ? I can understand that. $1100 for this cue used ? In this market ? I don't think so. However, I will say that a D forearm matched up with a nice supershaft does play well. The dice cue was a nice design.

D19 Dice Cue

Not to take over this sellers thread but I have a D19 with 2 shafts and it was recently refinished by McDermott. Cue has not hit a ball since the refinish. 1 shaft is brand new and never hit a ball and the other is the original shaft with a new ferrule and tip, never hit a ball. I am considering selling it but I am not sure what I can ask for a price. I know what I want to get out of it but in the market, you always need to start higher because people offer less. Please contact me if you are interested. It is sitting in a case, and I have other items soon arriving that I need to pay for.

I have pictures of before and after the refinish as well. I can email or post. I will start another thread if enough interest.

Sorry again for taking over.

$1100-$1200 for this cue would be the price if it was in "Mint Condition". I have seen some of them rated at 75% - 85% that go for about half that.

Examples - compare condition

D-19 for resale - 85%

D-19 for resale - 98%

D-19 for resale - 90%

D-19 for resale - 80%

Collector Cue List for Resale

IMO (which really isn't saying much - lol) these D series cues hit a lot better than some of the high priced customs I see being flipped back and forth here and on other sites. Assuming this is not another rip-off - the cue listed on e-bay looks to be in good condition and would be a steal at any price for someone looking for a good player. Myself, I would buy from the site I just gave the links to - it's McDermott and they are a good company to do business with.
