Mcdermott G222c

Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster. i have a question about buying my next cue. I have been playing seriously now for about 3 years. Bought my first cue a while back not really knowing much about brands of cues or what made a cue better than another. Found a Cuetec cue and thought it would due for a first cue since i read they could stand up to a lot of abuse. Seemed like an ok cue to me but now discovering all the horrible things a lot of people had to say about the cutec fiberglass shaves, i would like to try something else to compare it to.

i am ready for an upgrade but not quite ready to fork over enough for a custom built one yet. Heard Mcdermott was a great brand, so i checked out their site. Found the G222c they currently have as their cue of the month. It seems to be a good deal considering its normally $505 now selling for $295 for this month only. I was ready to pull the trigger but thought it would be smart to register to these forums and get your guys opinions.(check out the cue on their site, cant post links now because i dont have 5 posts yet)

What do you guys think? Any suggestions? I'm really new to the site and all this cue buy business so a steer in the right direction will be appreciated.

Mcdermott is a good solid production cue. If you like the way it looks buy it.
I like the looks of that cue.

That's a nice looking cue but I would go hit a g-core shaft first and see if u like that over a vikore. Vikore shafts are by viking and the price for their shafts are very close to mcdermott. I just shot 100 balls with the gcore and then 100 with the vikore. I liked the gcore more and it felt better to me. The tip was the standard tip and ferrule. Standards tip and ferrule with vikore also. And same weight of cue and shaft diameter.

There are authorized, reputable dealers on ebay that have it selling for a bit of a discount.

The whole cue of the month thing is really a marketing gimmick. Youll never see that cue sell for $505. That being said, my first cue was a g208c cue of the month and I loved it. McDermott is arguably the best production cue in the $200-$300 dollar range and well worth the money with a lifetime warranty.

Its definitely an improvement over your cuetec and im sure youll be happy with it after you adjust. Alternatively you can buy a $100 cue and upgrade to a nicer shaft (OB, Predator, mezz etc) for about the same price tag. The ebay seller could easily get you that cue with an i3 intimidator for around the same $295 you were looking at to begin with.

Either way cant go wrong.
