I've had a predator cue with a 314, a Z2 and I didn't like either as much as I like the I-2. I'd go with the I-2.

In some of the threads, there have been reports of warped or broken Predator shafts. With a McDermott I-series cues, you have a warranty. I play with an I-3 myself and I really like the feel and hit of the cue. I'd go with the I-2 if I were you. Hopefully, you'll get more feedback and opinions on this thread.

I hated the I-2

I hated the I-2. Purchased one because it looked like it had potential. I'm a Pred guy and would not consider the I-2 a Low Deflection shaft. Everyone who tried it did not care for it.

I just see a problem with the mcdermott, but no have idea if is for all for no see any other, is in the shaft have the joint in the shaft in the wood, without any metal protection and got damaged a little bit every many times i mount my cue.
Here, in Spain, the most time people use predator, meucci or falcon, but no see any mcdermotts, i buy it in ebay, for i see in that forum so many mcdermotts lovers, and looking the mcdermott website i fall in love with the dubliner.
My question is, All the Mcdermott shaft have wood joint? I use joint protectors but i know the joint will be damaged with time, have warranty for this? For playing better i2 or i3? if i3 the Big Boy or older model?

Sorry for my english i try to write the most correct possible. Thank you for all yours answers

The I-3 is rated as a lower deflection shaft than the I-2. The primary differences are the tip diameter and taper. The I-2 has a tip diameter of 12.75mm while the I-2 has a tip diameter of 11.75mm. The I-2 has a Professional taper of 10" to 12". The I-3 has a European taper. I like the smaller tip diameter of the I-3 because I think I can more precisely hit the cue ball. Tip diameter and taper are a personal preference thing. You also state that you cause damage to the shaft every time you mount it to the butt. This I don't understand. There should be no reason for that. Perhaps other McDermott owners can address that issue for you. I've never had a problem. Good luck with your quest and hope you enjoy whichever shaft you buy.

Thanks for all yours answers, but know i' m a little bit confused, if is better for my game, buy a i2 or i3, i' m star playing pool with snooker cue, like 8,5 mm tip, with european taper, and be perfect, in 8 feed tables, and no so good in 9 feeds tables, but a parter of club say to me, better buy a pool cue, with 13 mm tip, and buy the Mcdermott Dubliner.
Sometimes, i use the snooker, and be great, but no is the best for long shots, and i' m a little bit worried if i buy a i3, fail some long shots, or be needed have other cue mounted for a long shots. Actually i' m training in 8 feeds table, but in most numbers of clubs people play at 9 feeds table and here i find much more difficult for play with the snooker cue, for have more long shots, but i think is practice.

I' m not advanced player, just start few months ago, playing seriously but i train 1h or more for day.

Good choice. It will take a few sessions to become accustomed to the new shaft but after that you'll really enjoy playing with it. Practice makes perfect and please let us know how you're doing.

Yesterday arrive to me the shaft, spanish post system is just horrible and stay more time in Spain to my home, than San Francisco to Spain. But i just love it! is incredible how much better is my playing with i3 and just in few games.

Thank you for the advise of better if buy the i-3 than i-2.

So glad to hear that you like the I-3 and are playing well with it. I would suggest you buy a Willard tip shaper to keep the tip in top condition. I use the dime shaper after every session. I also use a piece of Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to keep my shaft and ferrule clean and a leather burnisher to keep it smooth. Good luck.
