Mcdermott pin question

Having a run of strange cues coming thru my shop. Anyone ever hear of McDermott using a 5/16-14 pin in a stainless steel joint. I think it's a mutt, but the butt sleeve has the McDermott stamped cloverleaf, and the inlay work looks like one of theirs. Also the finish was applied over the stainless steel and seems to be polyester based.(Smell when sanding and the way it is cracked.)

Is it this joint???? If so it is the Elite series.... cues in the Elite series rang from $659 to $1,510 new from Mcdermott

The EK series of McD cues had 5-16 14 thread joints. The first versions had finish over the entire joint, and the later versions featured polished stainless with no finish.

The joint that jaydog shows, is a newer quick release that is now used, but it is not a 14 thread joint.

what thread is the quick release???

They only made the 3/8-10 version for about a year due to a dispute with another company over patents. They then switched to the 3/8-16.

The one pictured is a 3/8-16.
 
Ken Boyle - krbsailing - had a McDermott for sale about 1 1/2 yrs ago that was a special offering of some type (still wish I'd bought it). No inlays, 4 ebony points, 4 veneers, short splice, ebony butt sleeve, white cap w/ black logo... It was a piloted SS 5/16-14 joint w/ .030 silver ring.

With the EK hint I was able to find the cue on Mcdermott website. It's definitely an EK1
One of these days I'll have one that will stump the group.
