I have a E-Series shaft that is 3/8X10 stainless joint that threads into wood shaft with no insert of any kind. It keeps coming loose and I didn't know if there was a way to fix it. Any ideas?

Thanks, Dale

Sorry I posted this in the wrong forum.

You can try cleaning the threads with a small wire brush. A gun barrel brush will work. Sometimes particles will get packed in the threads.

This may sound crazy but you can swell the threads to make them tighter by filling the hole with water then dump and let air dry...I've done this on alot of McD's that get loose...

linen collar insert

When they (the wood threads wear too much you can repair) Have a cue maker put in a linen, plug (insert, call it whatever, huebler used plastic-) Repeat linen just like your collar material ) I call it the silver bullet treatment. (never swell your shaft end with water! unless you want it to crack) the end grain will suck water but when it dries it will be more susciptible to cracking.) Dollar bill strips work temp- Pay 20. bucks and have an insert made! mark
