I'm assuming not a whole lot has changed but I had one of the originals (not McDermott). It performed very well jumping, but I never got the feel for it breaking. Personally, I also never liked the coating that was on the shaft.

They are very nice cues though and I believe there are many more people that like them versus those of us that didn't care for them. They are quite popular and effective, it just wasn't for me personally. I don't think you could go wrong with purchasing one, McD's customer service is very good. They'll take care of you.

I'm not sure if there have been many changes to the cue since I've had mine, but hopefully this will help provide you a little information.

Good luck in your search.

I actually just ordered one last night. As soon as I get it and get a chance to break with it a little I will post my opinions on the break aspect. I am not good enough to use the jump part but I should be able to comment on the breaking ability for you.

The "old" Stingers were made by Schmelke for Jerry Powers. The new ones by McDermott will be of the same or better quality. Just an FYI.

Shawn: I think your information is incorrect. Schmelke never made the Stingers for Jerry, he makes them himself. I also know that he sold Schmelke quite a few Stingers. Now McDermott, that's another great story...SPF=randyg
