McDermott Stinger jump handle question

I see that McDermott has added a jump handle to their Stinger.

So you can use either the two piece butt to jump or the jump handle. I have a Stinger that I bought a couple years ago and I love it, but the weight of it makes it difficult to jump balls that are less than a diamond away on an 8' table.

I have 2 questions.

Would using the jump handle make it easier to get the CB up quicker?

And does anyone know if they make the jump handle only with 3/8x10 threads or with the quick release joint that my older Stinger came with?

Hello, I just went to the factory showroom today in Menomonee Falls (20 mins. by freeway from me) to pick up a turned down G-core I had them do and they are now selling the jump handles. But not the black lacquer ones that come with the new Jump/break cues. Those are at least for now reserved for the new sets. They are selling a plain brown wood handle that fits only the standard 3/8 x 10 joints that fit the lowest end Stinger I version that I have. For $30, I took one home. I have another jump cue I use for jumping because I think the Stinger jump handle pretty much bites. I love it as a breaker, though. But the cheapo handle I got today turns the Stinger shaft into a very decent jumper. Feels much more balanced with the newer, slim handle. Right now that's the only joint they make it with. It may only be available at the showroom right now. Call Mcdermott tomorrow and Jaime (the rep who will probably answer the phone) should be able to answer your other questions about availablility.

Thanks for the info, that is pretty much what I expected and the story I got from Jayme as well. Here is our email exchange for anyone else who is interested.

Hi,

I bought a Stinger a couple years ago and I see that you guys now have a jump handle for it. Do you sell the jump handles separately at all? Also, it would have to be a quick-release joint as that's what my Stinger shaft is.

Thanks much,

Kyle

Kyle,

Sorry, we don’t offer the handle independently. These are sold as part of the NG04 and NG05 sets. They are all 3/8”-10 joint handles anyway.

The last few times I've seen McD at shows, they sell their i-1 Big Boy shaft with the slim, brown jump handle (I think it has a couple notches in it), which has a 3/8x10 joint. Never inquired about buying the jump handle independently, but it was a pretty good deal for what it was.

And in theory, the lighter the jump cue, the closer you should be able to jump over a ball from, so the jump handle should be able to help you out with that.
