McDermott was sold, not closed down...

It is somewhat amusing that a company who used to be so fervent in their "American Made" marketing now produces a large portion of their cues overseas. Can't blame 'em though. It does seem to be the direction the industry is going and they're doing what they need to do to keep the doors open.

As opposed to the American Lager by Budweiser, now owned by Imbev? LOL

Giving up on the Olney?

Probably not, just trying something new for fun. I love my Olney and it will probably remain my main player.

Also, it may serve as a stand in as I would like to send my Olney back to Jeff to get a second shaft made for it.

TX Poolnut, you weren't aware because that's not accurate.

How so? All of their Star and Lucky cues are made in China. No one at McDermott would argue that point and these two lines represent a significant percentage of their cues.

Like I said before, I could care less where the cues are made. Predator has shown that you can build a very decent Chinese cue and I'm pretty sure that almost everyone on the boards has something in their house/condo/apartment/van down by the river that was made in China. The fact remains though that a large chunk of the cues McDermott distributes are in fact Chinese.
