Memory and Drills?

Alright, so, I have actually been doing some drills lately. Spent over 3 hours doing this one, right here: http://www.billiardsdigest.com/showdrill.php?id=7

Took me about an hour to hit each position (for each of the 3 shot lines) 5 times in a row. So, I could hit positions 1, 2, 3, and 4 for the follow portion within an hour. Same thing for center ball, and draw. It wasn't that hard but it was pretty eye opening.

Really, all it took was me remembering where I was hitting the cue ball, and how hard - I have fantastic visual memory and memory recall because I turn things into stories. So, a year from now I could go back to today and tell my self: "When I was doing that drill, I hit at 1:30 on the cue with a medium speed stroke to get to position 2."

Does that memory ability (thankfully I'm 20 years old and many older players tell me I'm a quick learner and will go very far if I keep at the game. Many also say I'm a lot more advanced than they were at my age, or a year and half into the game) help me progress quicker? What this has really helped me to do is understand where the cue ball is going to end up with different combinations of follow, draw, and English.

Maybe there's something to this drilling stuff after all.

Your title here is Memory and Drills, and it made me think of the woman who had caught her husband cheating.
While he was in bed asleep she took his cordless drill and put a 3/8 inch hole in his head. He lost his memory with a drill. :)

P.S. I think it was a Craftsman.

Yes, that memory ability will help you progress quicker. But you have to be consistent, such is the key word in pool I keep hearing. If I practice a drill for 8 hours today, I doubt I will be very good at it in 5 months, unless I do it constantly, maybe once or twice a week to get that feeling to really stick to you and enhance your muscle memory. Remember, memory is not forever, and can get lost.

Drills are a good thing.
