met earl strickland yesterday in Albany. Videos coming

Yes Westcoast , Earl is about 6' tall he's a bit shorter than I am .
Diana H may of been who you're talking about and yes she is a pleasant person .
There is a picture of her and him on Facebook, not sure if it was Earl's page or the Capital Region APA page. I was the last one to play him Friday night and she took that pic with him right after he finished with me. You are right, she was exceedingly nice.

So from watching him play a few people throughout the day I noticed that some people got a few innings with him each game, and others got less. For my two games I shot three times. Started with a dry break and he missed his first shot, shooting a cross side bank. Felt like that was intentional since it was an easy enough shot. Then I ran a couple balls but missed a full table down-the-rail shot, and he ran out from there. Next game I broke using 2nd ball break, made a ball, and ran a couple more, but I passed over the shot I wanted since there wasn't a bridge under the table, and I needed it for that shot. Missed a cut shot to the side pocket then got to watch Earl run out from there. I had a buddy record both of mine and Earl made some of his signature cue around the table shots for a better leave to the next ball. My ego is going with the theory that he would just run out on anyone he thought had a chance of doing that themselves. Yeah, that's the ticket! ;)

Well now looks like I did something right for a change ????

hate to admit it, but i swear that old mcdermott g-core shaft feels better than my new cf shaft.
this is exactly what I’ve been pondering. I’m still pretty bad, and my G Core shaft is all I’ve used so I have no comparison. Deflection is pretty negligible unless it’s max spin, hard, length of the table. Obviously it’s noticeable then. Are you actually getting even less from your CF?

Ha ha that fella that's on the left used to have red hair and was given the nickname Rusty in the early 1960's and it is still hanging on even if it's more of a chrome color now .

The other fella is Earl something or another who couldn't get over the fact someone would drive nearly 300 miles to watch him play pool and loose some money to Shane Van Boening .

300 miles probably isn't much in Montana, but I drove that far to see him, from California to Nevada. How often do you get a chance to meet a 5 time world champion? And it being a small venue, I actually got to meet him, not just be in the same room. Watching him play, there's just something different about how he hits the balls compared to mere mortals. I guess doing something every day for a few decades pays off.

300 miles during the tail end of another winter snow storm can be quite challenging to say the least ha ha
I was wound up like a 10 day clock when I finally walked into the billiard room but still played Shane I missed shots I normally don't miss oh well next time hopefully I'll do better .

Yes if a person has the chance to watch and even meet Earl Strickland or Shane Van Boening it's worth the effort to take a drive you'll be glad you did I certainly am .

One of the tournaments in a pool hall near me when the Seminole 10 ball tour was going on, I was sitting on a couch with my son between Jayson Shaw, Earl, Archer and one other guy I don't remember. Was a bit surreal feeling, they were chatting about shots and some pro event happenings and thoughts on rules, etc...

I got to meet earl last night in albany. Also met allison fisher for the second time and took a lesson with her. She was, of course, extremely nice. Earl is misunderstood and misrepresented by a lot of people. He is very, very nice, completely approachable, and funny as hell! He let me check out his cue and all the doodads on it, was asking about my french fries, and definitely "picked" me in the crowd to frequently walk over to and complain about the table, joke around etc. It was a pleasure to chat with him, and get beat by him twice:cool:. He has a very interesting style/stroke when you see him up close. He doesnt grip the cue at all, he cups it. His thumb and pointer finger appear to not even form a loop around the cue. He also twists his wrist upon delivery. It can be seen in some of the videos, as he was directly in front of me. I brought an old, retired cue with me and had allison and earl sign it so I can hang it on the wall.
I had the same experience. I was also the guy he would break away from the group and go talk to. He was such a great guy. The people that complain about him probably never met him. He was a class act when I saw him
