Meucci Black Dot Shaft

I happened upon the Meucci website and watched a video of their deflection robot and how it works. Then I watched a few videos of various cues (Predator, McDermott, Lucasi, Meucci, Viking, etc.) with original shafts vs the same cue using a Meucci black dot shaft. Significant reductions of deflections in every case using the black dot shaft. According to their video, the black dot shaft outperforms a Predator 314-2.

I wonder how accurate is their analysis of performance. Does anyone own a Meucci black dot shaft and what is your experience? Your input of how you like it and if you feel it improves your game would be greatly appreciated.

Dont believe the hype.

It was meucci doing the test, of course it'll make their product look superior.

There are MANY things wrong with those meucci videos. It seems like he was measuring throw more than he was cue ball deflection, because the ball that hits the paper is an object ball, not the cue ball. The way he had it set up could really affect where the object ball lands. It only goes to show that the black dot doesnt throw as much, with the way he set it up anyway. He only did it one shot per cue, not consistent, so it really shows no valid proof, it could be just a fluke for those shots.

Let a third party conduct their own research on deflection and shaft types...oh wait....Platinum billiards already did that. He describes his test, and has deflection results from many different cues. Shane also takes the average of the results, and not the value on first try.

EDIT: I would actually like to suggest that they, Platinum Billiards, perform the deflection test on Dominiak's Dominator II Shafts, as well as Joss's rumored radially laminated shafts. Also that they post the results from several shots of each of the four positions on cueball it was hit, just for consistency purposes.

As far as I'm concerned, the Bob Meucci videos and his "robot" are there for entertainment purposes only. I would put much more weight in the reports of players on the black dot shaft than old Bob who also claims that he is royalty and descended from the Medici family.

As for Platinum, Shane's a good guy, but keep in mind that he did work for Predator and is currently one of Predator's largest customers. That doesn't mean that his results aren't accurate, as they probably are, but I don't think that he or any retailer for that matter should be considered a truly non-biased independent party. I'd be curious to see tests from Dr. Dave though. I think he has a robot, right?

I bought a Meucci with a black dot shaft and it was way superior to the 314 I had played with on a Joss sneaky pete. Did not play better than any other custom cue I owned at the time, so I sold it.
