Mezz Break Cue

Hi all,

I have a rather newbie question about a Mezz Break Cue I just purchased. It came with the tip nice and shiny and un scuffed and wouldn't hold chalk for the life of me. I lightly sanded it and picked it. It held chalk for awhile but wouldn't the next day. Anyone know why they ship them this way and how to get the tip to be consistent?

Thanks in advance!!

With a new tip ya have to shape it to desired nickel or dime shape. This takes off new(shiny) surface and it should be good to go. A lathe makes it much easier but it can also be done with a hand held shaper.

from time to time you will have to reshape/scuff the tip. it's leather and the more you play the more it will compact and harden and need to be reworked. there are plenty of tools out there to get the job done and everyone has a favorite.also remember if the tip came untouched when you bought it you will have a more difficult go in the begining getting it where you want it.

he's talking about a break cue.

just scuff the hell out of it. i've read this about their tips before. apparently they use a black ingit tip or some crap. i say if you scuff it and that doesn't get it to hold chalk send it to a cuemaker to replace the tip with a white diamond tip or something
