hey, i was just wondering how mezz's cues hit. i really haven't seen to many down here in windsor so i'm kinda curious about them. the other thing i was wondering is how do the different shafts play? if anyone here has one/ plays with one any info would be helpful. thanks, Brett.

Mezz hits pretty firm to stiff. It depends on the Joint and Shaft.

The United Joint will hit stiff, while the Wavy Joint will hit firm. WD700 hits pretty firm, while the HybridPro and HybridProII hits stiff.

WD700 is Low Deflection on the ballpark as the Predator shaft. The HybridProII has slightly higher Deflection and the HybridPro has the most Deflection but not the same as a Standard Maple shaft.

To me, Mezz is one of the best Production Cue out there. It's made in Japan and we all know that the Japanese do have a high standard when it comes to quality of their products.

Hope this helps.

Been using a Mezz for more than 5 years. Discontinued zz01 with the hybrid pro I shaft.

Hits stiff and moves the cueball very easily. Been playing with many customs but it still seems that mezz, in my personal opinion, is still one of my best players.

Great workmanship too btw :)

Hi macneilb,

I tried those shaft:
314
Z2
ob-1
wd700
hybrid pro I
hybrid pro II

Now I playing with mezz sneaky pete and I like very much with the Hybrid pro II shaft on.

I have done a little change to this shaft in fact I turned down to 12.30mm(standard size is 12.50mm) the first 4-5 inch and just a little over and now deflection is very low even if compared to the 314 and z2.

The feeling of this shaft(modified!) is very close to the z2 (best shaft I have tried but too much thin and conical for me) but with more stiff hit and maybe a bit less spin and power but I really like this compromise!!
Now I feel that cue is not more an important factor in my game:cool:

Anyway I think that "the perfect cue" does not exist, exist a compromise best for you ...

ps
...over a year with this cue and shaft ...this one is my all time record:) :)

Mezz cues definitely have a stiffer hit than other cues I have had the privilege to hit with; the sharp ping associated with the hit, particularly on shots when I'm applying a lot of juice, took me a while to get used to. But the cue behaves, physically, the way I would instinctively expect a cue to, and that's why I stuck with it. Hope this helps you.
