I recently took delivery of the latest break shaft from Mezz called Deep Impact Pro.

Check this site out --> http://www.miki-mezz.com/shaft/deepimpact_pro/index.html
It's in Japanese, no English writeup right now.

That line on the shaft is the Joint of the front and back portion of the shaft. Front is still Maple, while back is Ash. Don't know how this will hold up to breakers that tend to bend their shaft while breaking. Only the future will tell.

This shaft has got some power. It has control on the CB. It breaks very well. No need to exert so much effort. Look at that ferrule-less tip. The technology it has will cost you some though.

Looks nice Jhun:thumbup:

I am sure the reasearch and development team of mezz would have tested this cue before introducing in the market.

I am in love with u wrapless powerbreak already though:thumbup:

I just got back from the Blaze Tour stop at Raxx Pool Room. Mika Immonen let me break with his Break Cue, which has the Deep Impact Pro Shaft on it. All I can say is I'm selling my Predator BK2 and getting a Mezz with thier new technology. I was crushing the rack and controlling the cue ball with ease. Also very easy to jump with. It didn't even feel like phenolic.

What kinda tip is that?

Ash Join with maple shaft??

I can't really read Japanese but if that is a G10 tip I can more or less imagine how it would hit like. Not really a fan of G10 tips

The tip is made by Mezz and it is called the Sonic tip.

Before getting to try this shaft, I was a bit apprehensive as I do not like phenolic tips or other non-leather based tips as I find these tips too hard and they do not give me good feedback on the break.

I had the great fortune of Blowfish dropping by Singapore and letting me try the shaft with a Mezz PB1 butt.

Broke quite a number of racks of 9 ball with this shaft and I was quite satisfied with the performance of the combination of the break cue.
The tip is not as unfeeling as I expected it to be and the power transfer was quite good.

I am able to park the cue ball with more ease as compared to my current break cue.

Personally, I would consider getting this break shaft with a Mezz PB1 butt if I have the extra money to spend on a new break cue. more information can be found here: http://www.miki-mezz.com/world/shaft/deepimpact_pro/

Thanks for Blowfish for letting me try this new innovation from Mezz. ;)

Hey Folks,

I just got back from Japan. Was fortunate enough to get some play time in and to do some shopping. I did some searching on the web to locate pool shops that were actually shops and not little rooms where they collect web orders.

So what did I buy? I bought this shaft and PB butt. Had the option to purchase either the PB-II or DF as well. But I opted out of the PB-II due to the shorter length of the butt. I like how it hits, but I didn't feel like fishing it out of my case every time. And not the DF, even though it's their newest and it would be convenient to not have to carry a jump cue around, I still like having dedicated tools. Plus the fact that they do not offer this shaft for any other joint other than the united joint.

And here's my review. It's awesome. I think the combo of the butt and this shaft is amazing. Up until this, I've been using a BK2 with Fat shaft and Samsara J/B tip. Nothing wrong with that set up. Just wanted something new for me and I have buyers wanting my BK. So, in essence, my new cue is free. I made a swap for the DIP shaft and a little extra money. The PB because it's 3 generations ago, is really cheap over there. No need to throw too much of myself into the break. The control is wicked and the hit feels so friggen solid. I love the SP grip. And the sweet spot is large and forgiving. Amazingly enough, I can run racks with this thing. Chalk holds good for 6-7 good juicy shots. Draws OK. And the best part maybe is that full cue jump shots are a breeze. I love it.

Thanks for reading.
