Mezz DI shaft, all of them are curly maple?

Does anyone has a Mezz PB Deep Impact shaft with curly maple?
I've seen two of my friend shaft which all of them use the shaft on Mezz PB butt, so I just wondering are they came all like that or just some of the batch? I live in small province so may not have much DI shaft to compare. So if someone have an information about it, i'll thank you very much.
 
Thanks AlexandruM, your photos explains all. That curly thing wasn't curly at all I think. It's all hard maple but some has a zig-zag grain colour (I don't know what it write/say in english) when exposed to light. For example if you pointed the shaft 45 degree tip down and see below a lightbulb, the grain colour will be different if the shaft tip pointing up. :)
 
I own one. Not curly maple, although I can kind of see why someone would ask. There are "rings" (at least on mine) going the length of the shaft, but not going around the shaft as curly would.
