Mezz Smart Chalk

So in other, more quirky, pool news. I just saw that Mezz came out with a new chalk line. Normally, this wouldn't be all that spectacular as I mostly subscribe to the "chalk is just chalk" line of thought, but in reading the description I noticed that this chalk is just a bit different. It seems there is a magnetic component to the chalk which should help find the cue ball and reduce miscues. They also claim to have better transference of spin, which I could see as partially beneficial on table length draw shots.

While I doubt that any person with a decent stroke would find this of particular use, I would have to admit this is definitely an innovative idea, albeit one that I could only see beginners using. Also at 13.50 for a single cube of chalk I'd probably have a hard time switching from my Magic chalk or good o'l masters.

I do like seeing new niche products and I hope someone can offer a review once its been out for a while.

Can you supply a link that states that? The Magnetic component is a metal plate inserted into the bottom of the chalk to attach it to a magnetic chalk holder. Brian.

This is the description I copied and pasted from https://www.seyberts.com/mezz-smart-single-chalk

MEZZ SMART CHALK - Single (Patent Pending) Consistency and reassurance in a competitive-preferred profile. Experience predictable experience from every hit with the new revolutionary Mezz Smart Chalk. Constructed with an inimitable formula and unique magnetic component, the Mezz Smart Chalk reduces slippage, minimizes miscues and creates a larger sweet spot for accurate transference of spin to the cue ball, hence, optimizes performance by delivering ease, accuracy and confidence under the most extreme pressure situations.

The sentence seems to imply that the formula itself has a magnetic component, rather than any kind of metal plate. If what you are saying is true, I'm mildly disappointed, because now its just an ordinary piece of chalk, on an already saturated and unnecessary market.

Translation from Japanese to English can be a bit hard and inaccurate.
As far as I've read there is not magnetic stuff in the chalk itself, but small metallic plate for magnetic chalk holders.

Nevertheless, the chalk market has just come to life. I'm very glad for the additions of Blue Diamond and Magic Chalk. Masters just plain sucked for me.
Isn't it exciting?

Cheers!

Just a metal plate

Check out the Mezz website and it will be clear that this is just a piece of chalk with a magnet in the bottom, like Outsville does with its Great White chalk.

Well whatever it is, it works great and stays on really long. I got a complimentary piece with my Mezz cue.

I started using Kamui 0.98 B almost a year ago and there's not way I'm going backwards to anything else.
Once you drive a Rolls.....lol
For anyone interested in trying new chalk I recommend they give it a shot.

This is expensive chalk in and of it self as long as you make sure you don't look at the full picture,
namely that it keeps going, and going, and going...
My first cube has lasted almost a year and I still have about a quarter left. A cube of Master used
to last me about a month with the same amount of playing.
I use it on my play, break and jump cues.

This thing will last about 25-30 shots so I make it a thing to just chalk up once before each game
and I'm all set no matter what.
Never have to think about it again during the game.
Spending 25 bucks once a year for chalk that has very obvious benefits is easy.
Just thought I'd tell you.
