OLD NO 9

Now that the Us Open 9-ball has filled who is missing from the list that either should be on or surprises you that they are not?

I can think of over a dozen right off the top of my head, but am just as curios as to who others think are MIA. I'll start with two:

Mark Gray appears on The Steinway Classic list, but not the US Open? Hunter Lambardo travels all over the world to play in big tournaments, but doesn't enter the biggest in the USA?

1) Mark Gray - England
2) Hunter Lambardo - USA
3) Justin Hall - USA
4) Mario He - Austria
5) Wu Jiaqing - China
6) Wang Can - China
7) Chris Melling - England
8) Joshua Filler - Germany
9) Naoyuki Oi - Japan
10) Yukio Akagariyama - Japan
11) Toru Kuribayashi- Japan
12) Ronnie Alcano - Philippines
13) Johann Chua - Philippines
14) Wojciech Szewczyk - Poland
15) Mateusz Sniegocki - Poland
16) Abdul Majed, Bashar Hussain - Qatar
17) Stepanov, Konstantin - Russia
18) Aloysius Yap - Singapore
19) Fu Che Wei - Taiwan
20) Dennis Hatch - USA
21) Shawn Putman - USA
22) Shane McMinn - USA
23) Josh Roberts - USA
24) Brandon Shuff - USA
25) Danny Smith - USA
26) Rob Saez - USA
27) Chris Bartram - USA
28) Shane Winters - USA

Where is Alcano? is he still playing?

My first post ever on AZB!! I am in shock about JHall......He played well enough last year to win.....He just let dechaine get in his head during their match.....I am heading to Virginia 3 weeks from today to watch.....I want svb vs ko final bad

Was hoping to see old guard Dennis Hatch and Shawn Putnam get back in the ring as well as some "dark horses" in Shane McMinn and Josh Roberts.

Scatch Justin Hall for any shot at the MC then.

Do not scratch Justin Hall from the Mosconi Cup so quickly.
JH is on the US 9-Ball Open waiting list and there's a good chance that he will get in.

AFAIK, Ronnie Alcano is coaching in the Philippines.
Perhaps someone on AZ can provide more details.

I spoke with Joshua Filler at Steinway during the 14.1 and he told me that he can't take off so many school days to attend the US 9-Ball Open.
But he did say that Derby City was on his to-do list in 2016.
He just turned 18 a few days ago and is now, in my opinion, the best all-around (8-Ball, 9-Ball, 10-Ball, 14.1) pool player in the world at his age.
The only game he hasn't yet learned is one-pocket and that's only because the Germans hardly play 1-hole at all.

5 guys from Vietnam can get their entry in on time and Justin waited too late. and is now on the waiting list??

Seems like lots of ppl like Jhall, I personally love his style too :)
But has any one notice his bigger belly in his more recent appearances?
Does anyone think that might have something to do with his willingness to compete in the US open or effect on his game :p
Seems nowadays young players pay more attention to their physical shape as it's likely to affect their performance in long tournament or challenge match

There is no money in pool to sustain travel expenses from PI to USA unless you have a backer .

JHall is the first on the waiting list. Some of the players on the list are past winners who are paid in. Some of those guys are not playing this year so Pat told Justin he'll get in.

I think it's safe to say half of the guys on the list knows they don't stand a good chance to cash well, so they probably decided not to show up. Austrian, Polish, some guys from Qatar, USA, Eng. I think they know their game's just not there yet.

Alcano is now under the Bugsy wings again in the Philippines, and is making an effort to get his playing career up and going again.

Extremely talented player, just need structure and discipline

very good news.....wouldn't have made sense for him to not play.....if his game is right he has chance to win imho
