Hey Cuemakers,

So this may be a stupid question, but I was wondering if this micarta that's on ebay:

Micarta Block on Ebay

Can be used to make ferrules. My cue repair guy has a rod of Westinghouse Micarta, and he made me a ferrule for my player. I'm currently getting another dufferin, and I was considering getting another Micarta ferrule made.

The problem is once it's gone, it's gone, so I was thinking about getting this for any future micarta request, or just giving it to my repair guy since he does a lot of work and gives me great pricing.

Just wondering if this is all the same.

Thanks.

It probably is Micarta and you can probably use it to make a few ferrules. Is it the old yellow Micarta that was used in the 60's and 70's?, absolutely not. The add states made in the 90's. They quit making the Old yellow Micarta about 20 years before that.

1990's is already well past the good stuff. The stuff that was out around then was not suitable for ferrules. It split and cracked.

Thanks for the info. Another AZer also linked me up to Hightower's site where I can buy some. :)

Micarta...maybe not the old stuff, but I like it none the less.
