Micarta?

I picked up an older, early/mid 90's, Scruggs and after having the ferrules cleaned up, I noticed the same grain pattern in them as old micarta. That look that throws some people for a loop, thinking it is ivory.

Sorry for the bad pic. The bottom ferrule shows the grain better.

Are these micarta?

Not 100%; but would say NO to being old Micarta. From what I've seen with the older Micarta is a yellowing of the ferrules. I have had older Southwest cues with ferrules that look like the grains of ivory but are "melamine". A bit hard to tell from the pics, but would think not Micarta.

There was definitely some white Micarta used by cue makers. Some of my Runde Schon cues have those ferrules. It has the exact same grain pattern as the older yellow stuff, but has the color tone of ivory. It would be real easy to mistake it for ivory.
