Sad to learn that services for Michael were yesterday. Most of the top players and certainly those in the Midwest have played at Michael's Billiards in Fairfield, Ohio. Not a fancy place, but if you wanted a clean comfortable place to play with good tables, equipment, and good competition - come on in.
Thanks to my work travels, I started playing there about 4 years ago. Michael was always friendly. He enjoyed - and promoted - the game, his friends, and the competition. Best game was banks and 1p. He still wanted to play even when he knew his best games were behind him. Enjoying his friends and being on the table - that seemed to be his passion.
Over the last year, my work has changed. I miss going to the pool room and hanging out. I hope there is a pool room in heaven. I'll know where I can find my friend.
