Hi, Does anybody here remember the gypsies that used to hang out at Bogarts Billiards Café and a few of the other local halls. Stevey John, Fuzzy, Etc. Time frame would have been early 90's. What a fun group of guys to gamble with. If you got any stories please lets hear them.

I moved to Pontiac area in 96. I remember Chicken(Ray) putting every move on me when I was trying to learn 1P. JR(Leil Gay) was hanging around at the time. Red was still playing. Bogarts was the happening place till their air conditioning broke and was never fixed. What a waste.
Yeah bogarts was a great place to miss spend your youth. I used to beat the gypsies out of cash and get robbed out of it by Red, Miami, Detroit Jones. and more. Mostly by enzo though. I got a job in an auto factory in 96 so I ended up working nights so that put a hamper on playing time.
Would love to find some pictures of Detroit's early days of pool halls and players. Any ideas .. john_oleson@comcast.net
I witnessed the closing of Plush Pockets and a place out on 59. There is still a nice place in Eastgate as well as another out on Schoolcraft. Hall of Fame is still open .. reminder of the 'old' pool halls, but not well kept (four better tables in the back for the hustlin' crowd.

I forgot about Miami, a true lock artist. I don’t know about Detroit Jones.
I haven’t even heard Enzo’s name since I got a Derby ride from him several years ago.
Kirk wood went 2 and out at the Midwest Bar Table Classic losing to Alex Pagulayan then Juan Vazquez.

Jones ....one of the high rollers from the Rack.
....liked a one pocket player in an action match there...came in with a breifcase....
...set it on the carom table and opened it...there was $300,000 in it...says...
“If that ain’t enough, give me half an hour.”
Jones was watching a one hole match at Bogarts...fairly serious cash...
..he asked if the kid was betting his own money....’cause he was playing too tight.
...gave me a new insight into the backer-player relationship....
..a smart backer wants their player to love the free shot....and play like he doesn’t care
about the money.
Then there were guys like Cornbread...played the same way whether it was his or not.
