I have this very interesting Joss for sale. If you notice the "NV" initials are inlayed in the points and buttsleeve. I contacted Dan Janes and he informed me that this cue was made for Nick Varner in the mid to late 80's. He actually remembered designing this very unusual cue. According to Dan, there were only a hand full of these cues, with this design, built.
Due to an older refinish job, the joint collar on the butt and one of the shafts does not say "Nick Varner ~ World Champion".
When I took the old wrap off I was pleasantly surprised at what I found. A Purpleheart handle.
I use to play exclusively with this era cue, when I was playing, and have never seen one that was built with a Purpleheart handle.
I am in the process of refinishing this cue. The butt is nearly done and I am still working on the shafts. Should only take another week to complete. The cue will come with two shafts. 12.75mm and 12.5mm.
