who gets your votes for rookie of the year so far? Mine goes out to Jamie Baraks(wilson) from Rock Island, Ill.

2005 Tournament Results:
$1,500.00 1st place Music City Open Mini Event
$250.00 9th place Music City Classic
$6,449.00 2nd place Derby City Classic 9-Ball
$1,500.00 5th place Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour Championship
5/6th Reno
+ high finish in Florida last month

Who else is in the running for Rookie of the year?

He also finished 5/6th in Reno this week..... Very nice guy, and I like seeing the good guys win. ;)
 
Baraks actually competed in 2004 and won an event, so I'm not quite sure what a rookie is.

Barkas is certainly one of the young players who has made his mark this year. Another that comes to mind is John Morra, the 15 year old who finished second in a Joss event earier this year.
 
yeah, that's the deal. Its not like somebody just started to play. Its more like they just moved up a level. Jamie got kicked off the casino tours here in the upper midwest and the only thing he could do was goto the pro events. That gets back into the "what makes a pro" discussions. BTW he did win the memphis event last year but that was on 8 footers and a small handfull of big name players. That being said I bet 100 vbucks he wins a "pro" tourney this year.

Yeah John would certainly have to be considered. He plays most of the big events in Ontario so he doesn't get alot of exposure. I can't wait until he starts playing some of the bigger events.
 
Has Marlon Manalo played before this year? He won more than Baraks' total just from snapping off Reno and everyone seems to like his game.

I don't know what the guy looks like- maybe someone can post a pic.
