How can you tell what type of pin a cue has just by looking at it ?
and what are the advantages of certain pins over others.......

as far as I can ascertain, the most important (only important) part of a cue is from the pin/joint forward...so this seems like the most logical place to start... right?

Thanks for the info

The best way to tell pins apart just by sight is by looking at a whole bunch of them. MOst people that have been around cues will know what pin type it is by look and maker.
As far as advantages/disadvantages go its seems to be mostly a personal preference. Hit with a ton of different cues and you might begin to understand. With these 2 questions there really is no good replacement for real experience.

Just one of those things that if you see enough of them, it's kind of obvious over time....
