I got to shoot around with Mikas new Mezz cue for about 20 minuites the other night in Canton. He has a new shaft called a Hybrid Pro shaft it is state of the art technology from what Mika told me. I am not sure who makes it , but the hit is so responsive and true. He told me the shafts are not even for sale yet. The cue is nice and hits well.

mezz in japenese means, "something you will deeply cherish" mezz cues are made by a cue maker in japan that has been making cues for almost 45 years. that company is called miki. in 2001 the linited edition mezz, with it's 10,000 pieces of black in white, into four points really set the standard for eye catching design. i believe this cue, will put mika at #1. however, he will have the tough job of beating nick van den berg.

Hybrid pro has been out for a while, I believe.
It's a great design imo albeit costly.
It has a flex point around 10 inches from the tip ( the carbon fiber insert runs from the joint and stops around the 10" mark).

Silencer, you actually believe this cue will take him to #1? I thought you didnt believe in a cue being able to help your game. As far as NVDB goes, your delusional.

Well, he won the WPC World Championships a couple years ago with his Mike Capone cue. I don't see how he can do much better than that.

...........ROTFLMAO!

Down here in the south there are some guy playing with the new ZZ line that comes with the 314 shifts. i just got there break cue.And i'll tell u what i hits great ..and not a bad price..So i'm looking into a playing cue .or i'll just get a ex shaft and see .But not to sure what i like just yet..But what ever one i get i'll put it up to all to see.. And give a play by play on the cue .

capone is a great fine well made cue, in fact i use a custom capone shaft. however, i feel mika is the type to be "inspired" and i feel the mezz will send him over the hill, sort of speak. i don't feel it's the cue, but the inspirational feel of a NEW cue to take him their. as far as nick van den berg and i, you ask~~~~~~~ bernie, what is your obsession with him? he hasn't won one big tournament, he isn't as well known or feared as ching shun yang, or johnny archer. then why, why, why the nick van den berg is the best posts, what is it with you, what do you see that we don't, or are you just crazy?, well my friends, this is the reason why, i believe he is the greatest player out there-- THE CUE BALL. nick is more familiar with the cue ball, and where it's heading next, than any other player out there. thats it! nothing more and nothing less. what made fisher the greatest ever? her position. it was supreme. perfect! a 10 year old playing pool for a year, could make all of allison's shots, because in her prime, 1998-1999, her shots were 6 inches from cue ball to object ball, and 19 degrees. SIMPLE easy nothingness shots, a legally blind person could make! now, her position is off, but still good, but her closing skills are like a shark! to make up for her slacking game. now, i see the same perfect controlled position from nick van den berg. actually he is a clone of ralf souqet. he plays exactly like souquet, except nick is younger, which means his eyes are better, and his game will be going up, up, up, while souquets game i'm guessing will be slowly, going down, down, down. ok, so now you know why i love nick. let's see if his mental game, could be as strong as his physical. i KNOW his mental game on a team, as in the mosconi cup is perfect, but can he hold up with the heat on him, being alone in tournaments? that is the question. time will tell. i say, if he doesn't do fantastic, by may of 2005, i give up on him. but i feel, he's gonna break loose this year, and win one huge tournament, and do very, very well in the others. let's wait and see.

Bernie,
I have seen Nick play a couple of times, and I have to agree with you to a certain point. I like his game alot. I like his temperament, and the way he carries himself. I too think he has the makings of a great player. All he needs is some seasoning and a few big wins under his belt, and he will be a major contender in any tournament he enters.
At the same time, let us be real...he is a long way from being the caliber player that Mika Immonen has become.

Can you explain more about the carbon fiber insert...how it's constructed to begin with and the playing characteristics, if you know? That having been said, what do you think would happen if they ran it up to 6 or 8 inches, or 12 to 14 inches as far as playability goes?

Damn straight, Mika is one of the top 5 players in the world ATM I would say in 9-ball (Translation into very simple english just incase: "Yes Mika plays world class pool, far better then NVDB has shown so far, you are correct Ted")

I think it'd be too stiff if ran all the way down to the 6" mark.

That may be true for now, however, I think that what they're onto is the right track in high tech shafts that will revolutionize the game. I always thought that Cue-tec might actually be the leader in doing it, but they seemed to have stalled out on that same design flaw with the sticky outer layer and haven't really overcome it. With a carbon fiber, or graphite insert into wood which they've been able to integrate, they'll eventually be able to control every facet of shaft specifications, feel, and shot characteristics.
They're only at the infancy stage right now, but as they learn to integrate other materials with the carbon fiber like boron, titanium, and other resins, they'll be able to maximize control of shaft weight, weight placement, shaft balance, flex, type of hit (soft to hard), and deflection. This type of technology has taken golf equipment to a tremendously elevated level, in addition to fishing rods and tennis rackets. As far as I'm concerned, this is the most revolutionary and exciting development out there and will make everything else pale in comparison if they have the money for R&D and some sharp minds to follow through. They're really not that far off from some incredibly potential products.

Very possible DM.
Bandido here has been making carbon-fiber inserted shafts for a while.
