that is a gorgeous cue! you can see the scruggs influence but he does his own thing as well. one thing that looks different is the gaps between the miters of the butt window. i think i would have rather seen them meet. but the cue overall is beautiful!
how much is the cue?

$3575 for this one and future cues will be at this price mark or higher per JP. Beautiful cue in my opinion.

What do all of the cue mongers/collectors/degenerates :D , here think about Mike entering the market at this price point? Just curious.

Alrighty then, I'll bite!
First off, I think the cue is really beautiful. I have not been a huge fan of boxed points, but with the veneered shadow points inside the veneered boxed points...well, let's just say that I have a fondness for veneered shadow points. ;)
As to entering the market @ that price point?! Well, I guess if he feels that he honestly has that much time and materials into any given cue...okay? What ever happened to building a rep or paying your dues?

I think he has paid his dues. Perhaps he has not built up his name to the point you think he has a rep, but he has a reputation I think. I am pretty happy with the Scruggs MC probably had a hand in. ;)

Cue markets dead all ready so one more aint going to hurt it! For a cuemaker that is new thats alot to invest.Better to start low and build a reputation than to try and hit the high end right out of the gate imo.
LOL

Just would like to add some backup imformation. Mike has worked along with Tim Scruggs, both of them handcrafting fantastic hitting cues for over 21 years; and like all creative people, would like some well deserved recognition, for his input and creative ability to cue making. He has learned well, working beside Tim, and will continue to assist in crafting "Tim Scruggs" custom cues along with a few "Mike Cochran" cues a year. Cue making is their only business, and their pricing is based on the intensive labor and materials needed to create some outstanding appearing, and hitting cues, who's value only appreciates with age, like a fine wine. By the appearance of this first cue, I personally feel Mike has arrived. JP

Is it just me or does anybody else remember Mike Cochran having his own line of cues before, Maybe under the name MAK cues??

I posted pics of one of those cues. Check the cue gallery a coupla weeks ago. He made a series of 10 in 1998. I've got cue #3.

Mike Cochran

With the amount of years that Mike has spent honing his craft along with Timmy Scruggs, it makes a lot of sense to me that he focuses on higher end cues. Mike will be making a very limited number of cues per year. He has the skill and talent to turn out fantastic cues, and knowing that I personally would rather have a chance at buying a more upscale cue that will grow in value faster than a plain one. I believe Art Cantando took the same approach, and is doing a great job of it. KEEP it up Mike........steve piesner

I think over 20 years side by side with Tim Scruggs building cues every day warrants paying his dues. You don't think Tim Scruggs built all the cues that came out of his shop by himself do you? Mike helped Tim build his reputation over the years without having the chance to put his name on the cues he built and since Tim is nearing retirement Mike is finally getting some recognition by building cues with his name on them. Just my opinion.
