MIKE DSECHAINE WINS UTB Championship

I'm sure this may be here somewhere. This is a must watch match. Dechaine vs. Jeremy Jones race to 12 for it all. At least 5 lead changes, just epic.

Congratulations Mike you have worked hard for it. Your game is getting very strong these past few years.

Awesome stream all weekend long, thanks to Big Truck and all who put this together.

I cannot believe he didn't make the 7 on the winner side hill-hill against JJ, but I'm glad he made it through and still won the tourney. Good job Mike!

Dechaine kept his composure during the entire event. Including one match against Charlie Williams (Mr. SPAM) when Dechaine shot a ball into a corner pocket with a moderate stroke, but the ball jumped off the table. Most players would have gone balistic. If this happened to Earl Strickland, we would have seen him talking to his invisible friend and maybe even break his stick. Dechaine maintained his focus throughout the tournament, where you could see his opponents getting frazzled at times.

Speaking of Earl Strickland...Johnny Archer gave him a nice beating (with most spectators rooting for Johnny). In his second loss of the tournament, Earl tried to get to Jonathan P head in the usual manor but it didn't work (most spectators were rooting for Jonathan). Kudos to Jonathan's girlfriend/wife (?) for not responding to Earl when he tried to start a conversation with her in the middle of the match. I'm a fan of Earl...until he becomes a D!CK, then I hope he loses (the later becoming much more common in recent years; his doctor should increase his medication). Hat's off to Jonathan P for maintaing his composure despite Earl's antics.

Kudos to the event organizers. The sport venue was incredible. It was big, clean and quiet. The tables were in superb condition (I asked some of the players), and the Magic Rack was nearly perfect (only one complaint of a loose rack in the 12 matches I saw).

Interesting shot at 2:20:50.

Wonder what the consensus is on that one by those who watched it live or on the stream.

Ball did kind of go pretty far though, and he did NOT crush it.

I myself can't tell from this particular vantage point.
Need a different angle to see it better and make a ruling.

Mike Dechaine

Congratulations Mike, you played very well, except that 7 in the corner in the semis of winners bracket-lol! Nice chunk of Cheese too, be smart with it. Many more tourneys coming your way i am sure, teach me the rack secrets-Greg.

It was definitely an awesome match. I'm glad I stayed up to to watch it. I thought for sure he was finished when he hooked himself with ball in hand against Klatt. Dechaine was down 7-9 at the time I believe. What a comeback! Congrats Mike.

Thanks to those involved with the stream!

What I think happened.
..jacked up slightly, close quarters...
..cue ball goes air-born..bounces off the point of the cushion

Thumbs Up

I agree with everything you commented on. Thumbs Up.

Congrats to Dechaine. He played great. One great tournament with a great field of competitors.

I saw him play a few years ago in a state championship up here and it looked like a cake walk for him. I said to myself after watching him play that he is brilliant in talent. I am glad to see him after many close big tournaments one to win it. Wasn't he 3rd place in DCC 9 ball three or four years ago? I think he played Mika Imonen three times before Mika beat him. Do not take this guy for granted he is here.

Mike is an amazing player and a great guy in general. Spoke to him during his lunch break and wasn't even bothered to least to let myself and few other friends chat with him during his meal time.

His break is a monster but more importantly his mental game and composure as well as his talent helped him beat some great talent during the tourney including Archer, Jessie Engles, Jeremy Sossei and of course Jeremy Jones.

I'm a believer... Congrats Mike Dechaine.....

Somebody on the chat said he drove from Maine to Texas to be in this one.

That is dedication.

I think the hardest thing to fade would be that referee. He is just a little too close and always shifting around. That would drive me nuts! Great playing and thanks for the link.

Congratulations also to Jeremy Sossei.

After losing his second match, he won 7 matches in a row on the left side, including the following 5 in a row: Pagulayan, Souquet, Shuff, Hatch, and Morris -- by an aggregate score of 40-22!. How's that for slaying some giants? He then lost to Deschaine, to finish in a tie for 5th/6th with Appleton.

One of these days, this young man is going to win a big event.
