It seems to me like it should at least count towards giving you a head start to being the next KOH.

This wouldn't be fair to the members who weren't invited to the 2005 KOH and didn't have a chance to win any money. Especially because the players were invited and didn't earn their way into the KOH.

Isn't not having to play ANY matches 'til the final match a good enough "head start"?

That assumes, of course, that a) they're going to do the KOTH again and b) if they do, it's the same format.

Efren won't necessarily be the KOH in the next KOH tourney if I understand it correctly. The KOH will be the leading money winner on tour. That's why it doesn't seem right to me that winning the KOH title wouldn't count at least in the money standings towards being KOH the next year. That's why I'm asking the question.

No can do. That is an original hand made Jay Flowers case. He is no longer with us. Besides I am not the World Champion. Won some local tourneys back in the day, but that's about it.

Well, IMHO it'd be really unfair to count the two events in past toward the next KOTH (if it happens). Many of the folks in those events (well, event - the "8-ball championship" being just LJJ and Sigel) - the ones who did win some cash - would have a big advantage going into the 2006 winnings race, before 90% of the rest of the folks - the people who applied for and got their tour card, the people who won qualifiers for the open slots - even get started.

They should just start counting winnings from the NA Open that's coming up.

I agree with that...except that Efren did a great bit of work to win the KOH and it should count for something besides just the $200K....did I really say that...about pool? So it wouldn't be fair to Efren if the money isn't counted in the standings.

The PGA Tour uses money from things like the Masters in the overall money winner standings, but not everyone earns an invitation.

What if Efren wins another tournament this year, but it's not the highest paid tourney and nobody wins two. So Efren misses out on being KOH in the next one by, say, $50,000...that doesn't seem right either.

Or, say Efren doesn't win another title, but they start over on the money list and say he doesn't end up qualifying for the KOTH tourney next year....

I'm sure the IPT has already considered all of these scenarios and has decided how this is all going to work, I'm just curious.
