Mike Sigel still King of the Hill?

So...I was just thinking (always dangerous) and remembered that the IPT KOH is not going to be the person who previously won, but the person who is the leading money winner....right now, I think that would be Sigel.

Efren so far has won $200,000. Sigel won $150,000 for the 8-ball championship and then another $100,000 for the KOH...making him the current money leader.

With a $50,000 head start, do you think Sigel can repeat as KOH?

Or does the first KOH matchup not count because it's last season?

Even if it doesn't, Sigel is still be the 2nd leading money winner and has a head start to repeat as KOH.

Cheers,
RC

However, it would only make sense that it would be the leading money winner inbetween King of the Hill Tournaments.

Which would so far mean Efren.

Unless captain hook can shake off the rust he will not place in the top 50 for the rest of the season. He will have to work hard just to keep his card. The IPT is llllllooooaaaadddd with talent that sigel hasn't faced in years.

Wasn't that "8-ball championship" just a match with him and Loree Jon Jones? I mean, how can you count that cash toward total winnings when it's a tournament of two people?

All this stuff previous to the real tour events, IMHO, shouldn't count. They've had absolutely zero to do with the tour as things are going to be shortly.

With already $250,000 in earnings, I think he's a lock to keep his tour card for 2007.

I bet it will though. That's part of the strategy for Mike and KT...with that money he starts off pretty high on the money list. Almost a lock to keep his card I think.

On the IPT website, it says that MS gets to be KOH based on the fact that he's the tour's leading money winner...so they must be counting it.

But would money won in the last KOH tourney count towards next years KOH? If it doesn't, then it doesn't give the KOH winner much of an advantage to be there next year.

IF the money counts, but not the previous money, then Efren is #1 with $200,000 and MS is #2 with $150,000...still way ahead of everyone else. Next is Bustamante with $70K (I think).

Lots of the people tied at $30K are HOFers who don't figure to be too competitive the whole season.

It will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

Clean Slate

IPT 2006 season starts off on a clean slate; whatever was won on the last IPT season ie 2005 does not count towards this years money season. That means everyone starts out equal.

So the 8-ball Championship with LJJ is out, but is the KOH prize money in for 2006?

Thanks!

I wonder if they will put Reyes in the commentating booth. "I got lucky to win." As opposed to "I'm the best ever." Would be refreshing.

I think Mike will be competitive this year, however with all the great players it will be hard for him to win. I mean you have Thorsten Holman,
Mika, Bata, D'jango, Manalo & Squiet just to mention a few of the men, much less some Wpba regulars that are capable of winning at any time. To me, Mike Sigel will always be #1 no matter who wins from here on out. His style was a Huge influence on me. He will always be my favorite. I just wish he would quit smoking and get off the caffeine. :)

Thats true. I can see it now. Efren saying I got lucky I went into balls alot. Master Mike told me not to do that. lol

Mike's case makes a statement. :D

The KOTH we've been watching this year on OLN happened late LAST year, in fact.

2nd item from the bottom of the list.

I know it happened last year, but that doesn't answer the question. Does the prize money won in the KOH count towards who is the next KOH?
Several sports, including NFL football have seasons that span across more than one calendar year.

Based on IPT hopeful's response, it doesn't. It seems to me like it should at least count towards giving you a head start to being the next KOH.

Isn't not having to play ANY matches 'til the final match a good enough "head start"? :D

That assumes, of course, that a) they're going to do the KOTH again and b) if they do, it's the same format.
