Miniclip 8 Ball Multiplayer game is doing a lot for pool

I don't know how many of you guys know about this game, but it certainly did a lot to promote pool, especially among younger crowd. It's the most popular Miniclip online game, with tens of millions of players. It was upgraded several times throughout the years, and now it features pool coins, custom cues and table cloth, many real tournaments (with different rules and participation fee), rewards etc. The physics of the game is great, it's free, simple, easy to learn but hard to master, and it gives the player a good approximation of a real pool game.

This reminds me of a low level team member (no skills really) that was on a local slop bar league with me a few years ago. He ordinarily played no patterns whatsoever. Was just barely able to make simple shots. Then one week he came in and ran a pretty nice pattern, making 6 balls. This was impressive improvement and I asked if he'd been practicing. He said, "Just on the Xbox".

Have you run across the cheaters yet? They stole away most of my "coins" at the 100,000 game. They can stall the game by...nevermind, I don't want to put that out there...and the game will tell you that YOU'VE lost connection. There goes another 100,000. They'll use the comments to rub it in too..."unlucky"..."well played"..."nice try"...

As a result, I stick to the 2,500 game since no one sees the need to cheat at that level.

I've heard about these cheaters before but I don't think I've ever run into one. I can't be absolutely sure, but I guess some guys I saw just play well.
