what do you mean by miscueing? the tip just slides off when you hit the ball or you dont make a shot because of the chalk?
im just confused because some commentators say that when a player missed a shot he miscued, but he actually did not.
miscue means the tip slid off the ball. usually this happens when you apply extreme english on the cb. i think it depends more on the tip you are using, not on the chalk. most pro players use master billards chalk anyway so i think it has a good edge.
Miscues are more often caused by a bad stroke than a faulty chalk ( if you're using Master).
Maybe a more pronounced follow-thru would solve your problems of late.

Also, especially with layered tips whose glues (in between layers) show up out on the surface, the smoothened tips have to be tapped to make the chalk stay with the leather.
A common cause of miscue is when the stroke is scooped up with the intention to draw the ball.
not necessarily, if you intend to make the tip slip off the cueball, for example when making a jump shot, then its not a miscue, its not it because you intended it.
miscue means, the tip slipping off without your intention of it slipping off, usually this happens to me when i apply extreme top english, or on extreme left or right english.
I'm pretty sure it was Jimmy Wetch but I could be wrong. I know it was one of the top 20 pros and he was on the 8 ball, case game, easy shot - he didn't have to stroke the ball much at all - and he miscued and fouled the 8. He was so shocked he couldn't stop talking about it. He started telling enyone that would listen his tale of woe. It can happen to anyone once in a while but it shouldn't happen to anyone all the time or continuously. If it does, you're doing something wrong or you got one real bad tip.
