While I'm not a fan of elephant ear wraps (just me...), I do agree that the high shine of a lot of lizard wraps can detract from the look of a cue. You have to be careful of where you draw the eyes and for a cue like this that has so much to offer, it's a shame to bring too much attention to the wrap. Better to choose something more subtle, that lets the whole piece work together... Then you get to pick up all the surprises as your eyes go along.
btw - I saw a stingray wrap on a cue by Marcus Dienst (sp?) at the ICCS show in KC a few years back. It looked awesome. Felt a bit on the order of elephant (bit smoother), and I understand the stuff is nearly indestructable (and thus VERY hard to install properly).
