I'm not a woodworker, just seeking input on this as I may be placing a new cue order soon.

How much do modern clears reduce the fading of woods such as Padauk, Bloodwood & Bubinga over time?

Do you mean UV prtotection? i would say modern auto clears are great , if there made for cars and exterior temps there good enough for cues , even at that peop still have cues refinished after years of play but trying to conserve color well u got me there , it may be minimal you may not notice , some clears will make product yellow or change color , i use Dupont Chroma clear but ive only made cues fr 2 years ....

The higher end Auto clears will slow the fading down, but will not eliminate it altogether. Bubinga will hold for a long time. Padauk will darken very slowly and Redheart will lose it's color a good bit faster. Bloodwood will darken very slowly. Cocobolo will also darken very slowly under a good clear.
