Modern or Traditional glue

I am going to redo failed glue joints on a 1930's era pool table. Should I use the traditional hide glue or a modern glue?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Thanks for you opinions,

Glue joints....? In the wood structure or the slate seams?

glue choice

For wood joints, I'd say an aliphatic resin glue, like the original TiteBond, is fine. Clamp time will be a hour or so.
You'll find a technical PDF on their website, if you need guidance.
I wouldn't get carried away... you don't need waterproof glue and the polyurethane glues are a pain, if you need to clean up the joint after clamping.

Good Luck

Thanks for the replies. And yes it is the wood undercarriage of the table not the slates.
