Just wondering if anyone has tried, maybe, coring the first few inches of a stock shaft, or using a lighter material (maybe wood) for ferrule material, maybe even fluting a ferrule, to decrease the amount of weight in the front thus deflection a "stock" solid shaft has, as opposed to maybe turning down the front few inches of the shaft?

Not rocket science.
Drill a hole. Fit a carbon fiber tube for tenon. Glue.
Re-drill hole yay deep past the carbon fiber tube.
Install a capped ferrule on that carbon fiber tube .
No need to core the hole.
