Modifying Tips

thanks for the pics.
Hardball, I've seen your jig in some of other milk duds threads. Your seems to be flat one.
Purdman, your jig is similar to the one I used, it leaves a tip to be dome shaped, and I called such a jig to have "inside" sphere.
So we have two versions already? Leaving third aside for a while, what do you think which is better?

whats that tip smell like

I've got a comment on tips- when you put all those tips in a plano box. Who knows what the buffalo tips and the others are soaked in. Especially all the over seas tips- urine is the magicccc on the tip. mark
 
Here is a more detailed picture of my version of milk duds. These are just out of the press with no sanding or shaping. They have a radiused side. The concave phenolic spacer on the right is what use to create the radius.

thanks for detailed image. Dome shaped tips must be traditional then.
I've heard modified (pressed) tips make about half of overall market in Japan, while we outside pay less attention to it I suppose.
