More on Predator weight change

Sometime back I posted a thread for info on changing weight on a Predator BK. I finally heard back from Predator. They say that if it doesn't have a weight screw (it doesn't) then the weight cannot be reduced. The cue weights 19oz. How would they make one lighter if someone ordered it?

To reduce weight, they could HAVE USED aluminum stud between the forearm and the handle instead of steel.
A full maple cue would weight about 18 oz. or less.

If full maple cue weights about 18 oz, then how much would a full ebony cue weight ? Isn't ebony heavier than maple ? Then, are the black ebony Predators cored or is there some other structural difference compared to maple cues ?

I haven't seen the Break Cue closely yet, but I believe it is maple painted black, not ebony. I have a black predator with a chip in it that clearly shows the white colored maple underneath. The predator 2 is also maple with a black paint job. That is what the advertisements for the predator 2 cue state. So I doubt they would use real ebony on one of their lower priced cues.

A full ebony cue can weight from 18.3 oz's up, without being cored. Maple can be even lighter and sometimes weight in more.

I balance & weight my cues with the woods I am working with.I also use a pin in the mid body section, of either steel or alumium. These pins, I move up or back depending on the weight of the woods being used, to reach the proper balance points..

I do not use weight bolts, in the butt as most do. If you have a weight bolt in your cue, and you change the weight bolt in your cue, your moving the balance point. Now you have a cue that will not play as well as it was designed to play. Front heavy, or too back heavy.

Some cuemakers do not take the time for weight and balance. Therefore, I consider them to be, not so good cuemakers. They are in it for the cash and only the cash. Most of them can't play anyway. Most of your high-end cuemakers today, build art, and for the most part, 95% of them can't draw there ball. Not all build them to play well. Kind of like driving a ROLLS, with a briggs & straton engine.[ don't care if they get pissed], the truth is just that. THE TRUTH.

I think those are not ebony. I think Pred only paints them black or dye them.

Interesting to know. Well, black Predators 2's have that strange black colour with glitter(?)... Plain black is okay, but with glitter, uugh.

That's paint of course since P2's are laminated. I can't imagine how much outgrain it has. Pred cues with inlays look like the inlays are bordered with resin as well. Not ebony.
Laminated butts can be done with other woods like cuemaker Bill Hagan did.
He made great hitting cues.
