Las Vegas around mid December. I was thinking of meeting my mate from England there and us shooting some and watching some. He is also in a wheelchair and one helluva nine ball player from what I understand. My game is just so lacking right now I don't want to disgrace myself.

Someone else may can provide exact dates...very hard to find on the net.

15th-18th of December i belive. No Steve Davis for eurorpe this year!!

Thorsten was asked to play while he was at the WPC. He says he hopes Vegas brings him more luck this year!

Toasty needs to be on team USA this year!

There does not seem to be totally confirmed venue yet. There is a calendar that shows it in Vegas but no named location (It was at the MGM Grand in 2003 but there's nothing on their 2005 calendar yet.) I went in 2003 and will go again this year if that is the definate location.

Steve Davis is a consistent crowd pleaser for the UK audience, and don't forget he beat Earl Strickland 5-0 in 2003. But given how many super-talented European players there are now I can see how they may want to finally move him out. (He's been on the European team for every Mosconi Cup since the beginning.) In 2003 they had the non-playing Captain position, which would be perfect for him, but I don't think they did that in 2004.

There's confirmation of Steve Davis not playing on the Matchroom Sports (The promotion company that runs the Mosconi Cup) forum here. Apparently it clashes with a major Snooker tournament this year.

I agree. Steve Davis really had a lot to do with the popularization of the Mosconi Cup, and will remain part of its legacy. Obviously, he's not nearly among Europe's top six nineballers anymore when guys like Hohmann, Chamat, Immonen, Feijen, Lely, Souquet, Ortmann,. Engert, Vandenberg, Tot, Hundal and others are all playing like champions.

Europe rates to have a very strong team this year.

Steve Davis

Hi,

Steve Davis has been on every Mosconi team, besides beeing a crowd pleaser, because he is a partner to Barry Hearn of Matchroom Sports. So it's sort of his and Barry's company and show.
Unfortunately the Team never really represents the best European players. If it would , last year the team would have seen four German players...

Likewise with the nomination of the US team. JMHO

Well my pick for the euro team this year would be:
Mika Immonen
Marcus Chamat
Thorsten Hohmann
Ralf Souquet
Raj Hundal
Nick van den Berg

Its pretty hard to pick 6 players as there are so many great players in europe at the moment.

That would be a solid team, but how can you leave out Alex Lely after his brilliant play in the 2005 European Championships?

It's more of marketability of the people in the team rather than whose the best player in Europe and/or American.

Any review on that Mezz Airshooter? I'm planning on getting one. ;)

Well it was really a toss up between van den Berg and him. I really like watching Lely play but i just think van den Berg has a bit more experince in the Mosconi plus he had a pretty good WPC.

Its the best jump cue i've ever used by a mile. Very easy to jump with, very light and (as you'll know ;)) like all Mezz cues its nicely put together.
