here is day 1

1. Team match – Boyes/Deuel; Feijen/Van Boening; Appleton/Bergman; Ekonomopoulos/Hall; Gray/Schmidt
2. Appleton & Boyes v Deuel & Hall
3. Mark Gray v John Schmidt
4. Feijen & Ekonomopoulos v Van Boening & Bergman
5. Darren Appleton v Shane Van Boening

Can't wait! Match 2 looks like a tough one for the US up against the World Cup of Pool champion pair of Appleton/Boyes, but the other 4 matches look pretty evenly matched to me.

My prediction, USA takes Day 1 by a score of 3-2.

Can't wait our local pool hall is gonna stream it does anyone know what time it will start here is missouri Go USA

I believe it starts at 1pm Central time for you, which means 4 am where I am...

Does anyone know the order in which they pick? I mean, does one team pick first and then the other gets to see and then pick?

It's more like each captain had to assign players blindly for each match in a paper and then they matched up respectively.

Correct
That is fairest. Cannot have 1 team having unfair advantage of seeing who other team has chosen before they choose their own
:)

here is day 1

1. Team match – Boyes/Deuel; Feijen/Van Boening; Appleton/Bergman; Ekonomopoulos/Hall; Gray/Schmidt
2. Appleton & Boyes v Deuel & Hall
3. Mark Gray v John Schmidt
4. Feijen & Ekonomopoulos v Van Boening & Bergman
5. Darren Appleton v Shane Van Boening

Thanks for heads up
IMHO USA has slight edge in 1st match (team) on basis tgey spent more time bonding and team spirit. Europe has edge in 2nd match(doubles). The remaining matches are flip of coin 50-50
Means end of 1st day Europe or USA could be ahead 4-1 or they stay close 3-2
:)

The team game definitely favors Europe with more seasoned players.
Appleton/Boyes clear favorite in their match.
On paper Mark Gray is as solid as a rock and play 9-ball as good as any body. He should have an edge over John. But it's only "on paper". Who knows if he's gonna choke or not :).
Feijen and Nikos should also have an edge over Shane and Justin Bergman.
True coin flip between Shane and Darren.

Fair prediction : 3-2 or 4-1 for Europe
Surprise : 3-2 for USA
Big surprise : 4-1 for USA but it's unlikely.

Europe wins the first game. Team vs team.
World Cup of pool champs will beat Deuel and Hall.
Schmidt over Gray.
Shane is still in Nikos head so Shane and Bergman wins.
Shane over Appleton.

I don't think Deuel & Hall were outmatched, in fact if one would consider Deuel can play Darren even I'd pick Hall over Boyes! :D

here is day 1

1. Team match – Boyes/Deuel; Feijen/Van Boening; Appleton/Bergman; Ekonomopoulos/Hall; Gray/Schmidt ...

So if the races are to 6 (like last year), and if the Team match goes hill/hill, and if the players stay in the same order (like last year) ...

then it'll be Boyes vs. Deuel for the first Cup point.

Gray vs. Schmidt could be a big match. If one of them struggles it could set the tone for the rest of their cup.

This year could go either way, IMO.

this may be the best day
I think neils nikos against svb bergman is huge
match 5 is obviously epic depending on the score

EUro take the first point in team event with a destruction of the USA squad.
nerves look like they got the better of the muricans

world cup of pool champions up next for euro and the prince and mr 400 up next
