The “grandstanding” was embarrassing for both teams. Childish behaviour At best. Reminded me of the dumb stunts by NFL players in the end zone.
It reminded me of the movie King Pin. It's waaaay over the top and cheesy. Shaw looked like an ass-hat parading around after every shot with his arms spread. Who knows, this could be at the direction of Barry and Emily. The “grandstanding” was embarrassing for both teams. Childish behaviour At best. For me, yes.Out of curiosity, is it the showboating by Filler and Shaw after routine shots?

LOL, you are so funny (hope you know that)Fedor a Russian player who has never ever had his family watch him play pool. Does his family even know he is famous?
LOL, you are so funny (hope you know that)There was a nice article on Gorst's biography in The Billiards Digest, try to look for it and there you could get to know the story of his family better. Be assured they have seen him playing many times, and they are aware he won a world championship.
Also, you might be interested to know (to turn to your earlier allegations) that Fedor's experience in Russian pyramid is pretty much as big as yours. Well, the only difference being, he's been at that 12ft table and did hit some balls. As a very little kid who could barely reach the rail. That was the reason he took up pool. Long story short, Gorst is not a Pyramid player by any means, and his fundamentals, etc., have nothing to do with this game.

He reminds me of a bully you would experience in junior high school. Thuggish. Filler needs to stop asking the crowd for more (finger behind ear) after he sinks a hanger in a corner pocket.I was going to knock Shaw but he knocked himself. He is low class.
A sport that has a long history of gambling and Daymon Runyon personalities is in dire need of a makeover. When cornhole gets more coverage on ESPN than pools Mosconi Cup then you’re really in trouble. Our sport cant be the only sport with no show-boating if we want to attract the future fans. And the best way to stop all those antics is to WIN or at least be competitive. When both competitors are in the game all those antics might look like entertainment, but when its all coming from one side it gets old qiuck.
At the end of the day we dont have 5 players that can compete and they have 5 World Champions on their team. Neither Sky, Tyler or Wolford can match up with anybody on the Euro team and thats always going to be a problem.
Its like the USA Olympic Basketball team playing the world before the Pro Players joined the team, there was no way to win.
Computer malfunction...I think the showboating by Filler and Shaw is disrespectful and unprofessional. I also don't care for the over the top cheering and jeering of the crowd. I understand this is fairly normal for the Cup . I also see this in UK darts so maybe it's a UK thing.

I have been very critical of the "over-doing" of the celebrations in prior years. And after attending I am very much changing my mind. Maybe it's cause we caught another serious ass-whooping but it adds tremendously to the event live, IMO. I wouldn't change anything. That said, some people have it and some don't. Shaw has it. Shaw has allllllllllll of it. Filler, eh, not so much but it adds a lot to the event iMO. If it weren't for that there is absolutely not chance I would ever attend again. Literally none.
Just out of curiosity, what was the cost of VIP Tickets ? (If you don’t mind me asking )My experience was very much mixed. Most of which has nothing to do with the USA getting smoked. I had VIP tickets for day 2 and 3 and the VIP experience was great. All of the food/drink you want and easily accessible. Maybe certain hard liquors cost money but I only drank beer which was all free and readily available so cannot speak to this fully. Food quality was above average. Pics with pro's. Rasson table to knock em around on. Darts, Beer Pong and a few other things to do.
Obviously USA is getting smoked but I'm annoyed day 3 was cut so short. I understand day 2 being cut short 1 match but day 3 was announced before the last match meaning that regardless of whether it was 10-1 or 9-2 it was over, was very disappointing. It sold short both day 3 ticket holders as well as day 4 ticket holders. I appreciate this is a business but (IMO) you were selling both customers short. So possibly leaving 1 match for day 4 was ok'd by someone? Imagine paying for a ticket and getting 1 match. I believe in an attempt to appease both customers they were comfortable appeasing neither. Plus the optics of being money hungry to avoid refunding day 4 customers. I cannot confirm if they refund day 4 customers in this instance but was told by several people this is the case.
Last but not least was SVB. There is no debating his career achievements so that is not in this conversation. I'm a big SVB fan and will continue to be in every other situation. But, tonight should serve as the end of his reign on the Mosconi Cup. This has absolutely nothing to do with his play either. His clear disinterest in the event and the other team members notice/calling out of, his disinterest is very telling.
The event was tremendous and, by and large, I fell like most people's behavior was appropriate/great. There was PLENTY of rooting for each side with only 1 person slightly out of line from my perspective. It was a great experience though not sure it will be something I would do again.
GO USA!
I agree with the need of a make over, maybe it should be called something different, The North American Cup and then we could add players from Canada and Mexico..., and maybe we'd have a chance!A sport that has a long history of gambling and Daymon Runyon personalities is in dire need of a makeover. Kind of like the way the world is heading.I think he's more into one-on-one action as opposed to teams or doubles. I saw him play well with Earl on his team at a previous Mosconi Cup. I think they have a rapport and good friendship.
I know Shane likes the other team members, but this environment isn't the kind of venue he shines in, I guess. I'm kind of now thinking the same thing. Mosconi Cup lost its sparkle for me. It's not because Team USA is losing, though. It's the atmosphere. If this is where pool is heading to make it more mainstream for TV, it's embarrassing to me as a pool enthusiast.
$332 per day for four days to surround yourself with drunks and buffoonery and watch assclown behaviour by players in the pit. Such a deal. So glad I watched 45 minutes of the re-cap every evening “por nada“. Matchroom should re-evaluate its involvement with this event in its present format. Not at all. $332/person/day camewith early entry at 5pm. Free dinner, free drinks all night, 2 pro's from each team came in for about 20 minutes for photo's/autographs, & a pool table to knock em around on.
