Wow, what a great idea!

Team USA for the first Atlantic Challenge Cup has a facebook fan page.

Let's rally the AZBers, and show these young competitors our support and post positive comments on their FB page.

GO TEAM USA!

This is a great event they are doing, along with the BEF helping with getting more junior state tournaments going (before the BEF got involved I think there were only a few events for kids), this helps get the junior players exposure.

I know one of the kids going, Tyler, he was in the junior league in my area and is my son's major competition although he is now too old to compete with him.

During one doubles charity tournament the guy running it forgot to add my name to the chart so when play started I did not have a partner. Tyler came in a bit late and he ended up being paired with me, we are both B players, which is very strong in that doubles event. He put us on the losers side due to our late start and Tyler said "that's fair", someone by us said something that made me laugh "yea unless you're the other teams on the losers side" LOL.

Did you hear, they are playing on a table with 4.33" corner pockets!

Yowza.

If you're interested, we just interviewed the team's coach, Earl Munson on ABR, and will be interviewing several if not all of the team members in the coming weeks. To listen visit www.americanbilliardradio.com

They also have a week of training for the event planned with Jeanette Lee, Johnny Archer and Mark Wilson. Jeanette is flying them all out to stay at her own house. How cool is that :cool:

Just wanted to give this thread another bump, and say its really neat that so many of the top professionals (ex. Striking Viking, Mr. 400, The Rocket, Irish Invader) are posting encouraging comments to kids on the TEAM USA Facebook fan page.

But, honestly, it's disheartening that 0, nada, zilch of the AZB'ers have expressed interest or shown support for this event. Go figure :shrug: (although props go to Mr.Bond!)

Maybe these pros realize the importance of the supporting the future of sport more than the trolls on AZB? Where's JAM when I need her...?:thud:

TEAM USA is about to land in Europe and 1st ever Atlantic Challenge Cup starts in 2 days.

Would be nice if they listed the times they are playing and list the GMT +- for the area so we know what time it's on.

We have a fund raiser for the Junior Nationals on the 1st, same day they start, and one of our local kids is on the team. Would be nice to have the stream running during the fundraiser but no times are listed. I'm not going to get the PPV if they play at 2 AM my time or 12 PM when I'm at work.

Posted on the TEAM USA Facbook page days ago it looks like matches start:

- Day 1 -> July 1 - 1:30 - 4:30pm EST (3 matches)
- Day 2 -> July 2 - 9:am - 11:am EST (2 matches)
-> July 2 - 1:30 - 4:30pm EST (3 matches)
- Day 3 -> July 3 - 8:am - 11:am ESP (3 matches)
-> July 3 - 1:30 - 4:30pm EST (4 matches)
- Day 4 -> July 4 - 9am - 3pm EST (6 matches)

I also think if you buy the membership into Kazoom you can play back and watch the event at your convenience.

Thanks, looks like the times are too early for the fund raiser but I am going to buy a few days pass to that site for this and hopefully can re-play them. Although if it takes them a day or get the recorded video up it may be a moot point since I want to have the stream up on the 1st at 6 or 7 PM EST.

what a fantastic opportunity for the juniors! :happydance::happydance:

i don't know what their out-of-pocket costs were (hopefully $0), but it doesn't matter. just the experience of going to Europe is totally worth it. as well as competing & meeting with so many international players.

well done!

As far as I know the Billiard Congress of America covered the cost for kids - 0 expense for TEAM USA.

Event starts tomorrow, we should all support the future of this great sport!

And I don't know about you - but I'm TEAM USA all the way!

TEAM USA is uploading photos of their own to the facebook page. It's pretty neat to get all the behind the scene shots and photos from the kids themselves.
