Mosconi Cup MVP 2034! (coaching young players)

Apparently, because I actually own a pool cue, I am the "expert" pool player in my family. I was visiting my cousins and we went to a pool hall so I could teach his 9 year old son how to play. He enjoyed the game and I'm sure he can grasp the strategic aspect but I was struggling with coaching him because he is not tall enough to stroke properly. I've tried to develop a straight pendulum stroke with and elbow drop on follow through and build my technique around that. My nephew cannot do this and has a chicken wing. He was having fun shooting balls so I decided that was more important than trying to hammer perfect form at this early stage. I'd like to get his technique improved so he isn't hampered by his stroke in the future, but also realizing that he has other interests. Any ideas? I've heard of standing on crates and seen platform shoes. He's still at an early stage and I don't know how seriously he will pursue the game so cheap simple solutions are the best choice right now.

As a young kid, Mosconi used to stand on an upside-down milk carton when he played.
Yeah, I'll have to try to dig something up next time I visit. I've thought about something similar to those step stools with spring loaded casters. You can kick them and they roll, and then when step on it, the body squishes down to the floor so it won't move.
I think an appropriately sized and height platform would be good. I heard Steve Mizerak's dad built a platform around a pool table in the basement so it would be at the appropriate height for him.
