Mosconi Cup: Nine-Ball, Big Pockets, Short Races

What's amazing to me is all the people complaining about big pockets, loud crowd, short races, etc.

Did any of you watch the international open???? 6 people on the rail, 3 of them sleeping, 2 on their phones and 1 watching. Yeah, that's exciting.

You obviously know NOTHING about what people want to see, and YOU are the reason pool is not on TV and is boring as hell.

The place is packed, selling drinks like crazy and everybody there PAID to get in, guess you guys would rather watch in a Church with 3" pockets cause you're all elite pros and watching pool with these pockets is so far below you.

Get a clue!

Jason<---not here to make friends
I watched it first hand. Thought the International was a great tournament held to the standards that we should expect.

I personally don't care about want the public wants to see... nor do I care about the betterment of pool. I'm not attempting to make a living off of it. I like the last remaining seediness of it. I like the skill of it not the spectacle. I like the rail being respectful. I like people conducting themselves the way they should. I like seeing people win due to more then a coin toss.

H<----isn't looking for friends and doesn't care about pool getting better. I like it right where it is.

Loud in between shots is great. Loud while the players are shooting is not great. It's not that hard.

This!!!!!

Not when Skyler or Tyler are down on a tough 9ball... not when the players call the extension.

The Wooooo shit is just so damn unsportsmanlike it's ridiculous. I complete understand cheering for your team to do well and even being happy at your opponents mistakes... but don't rub it in there faces.

It's a pure shark move. They leave themselves long on a shot they should still make "woooo". They leave themselves against the rail making the shot slightly tougher "woooo". They call extension "woooo for the next 30 seconds while he pulls the trigger".

I know the American crowd an get a bit rowdy here too when it's in the states but I feel like this year is the worst that I have seen in it regards to them not respecting the players or the referee when they tell them to stfu.

Key word...it IS a show....and it’s earned it’s place in the game....
...would I like to see more of these?....NO....but I want the Mosconi every year.

And the game needs more than players for spectators...it needs everybody...
....snooker’s success is partly due to a great many spectators who can’t hit the end rail.

I always agree with your posts. I don't want more of these either, but I am glad overall that the Mosconi is a thing.

I said in another post, I don't really care (or want for that matter) pool to be too successful. I like it right where it is. For the sake of humoring those who want to see it get bigger and better (and I completely respect your opinions for wanting that) what does snooker have that pool doesn't have? (other then money). On the rare occasion that I have watched a snooker match, the format wasn't anything like the Mosconi and the crowd wasn't anything like that either.

Limey, ooops, British sports fans aren't the greatest on their good days. Let 'em drink a while and you get a mass of singing yahoos. The "woooo" s^* this year is wearing me out. Bunch of morons.

Jeez. Finally the USA looks like it is going to win the Mosconi Cup and everyone complaining about the home fans. I guess it makes a change from complaining about short races or whatever. Get behind your team, they’ve earned your support. They’ve also earned the applause of the European fans and the fans at the venue. Assuming they get over the line, they will get that applause.

It’s a great event. Seeing some of the best tournament players in the world making rookie errors out of their comfort zone. Embrace it, embrace the whole thing.

I wonder how many pool players, barely getting by, would agree with this statement.

Probably none, but like I said, I'm not even attempting to make a living off it it.

Sure it sounds selfish, and don't get me wrong. I'm not doing anything to bring pool down and I do support my local rooms, cuemakers, Expo, US Open in the past and now the International... I just like the little niche of it. I like the remaining seediness of it.

 The two things shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. I love playing under dim lights, thick smoke and my weird taste in music in a place that few people know or would care to visit. I also love the Mosconi Cup and every big event that promotes the game into the consciousness of others.

It's very selfish.

I dan't know.

The music, the table buckets, the U-roopp fans, the player's screaming and other antics. I thought I'd tuned into a WWE match.

Dunno. The players appear to be playing their shots honestly and trying their best. Nothing WWE about that.

I wish we had Rick Flair there cheering us on. Lol

Mataya would be PERFECT in this atmosphere. Those Euro-weenie fans would have their hands full if 'ol Pretty Boy Floyd was in da house. ;)

I'd have Earl on stand-by in case one of them croaked. I'd pay big money to be able to sweat that team. ;)
