Mosconi Cup

Yep, I agree he certainly hasn't crumbled, but he admitted himself
in the post match interview to feeling the pressure...

Boyes who made his fair share of mistakes, including a 9 ball to win
thematch was honest in his assessment; "That shot was down to nerves.
With some of the balls I missed my mindset was not right but for that 9-ball
I thought this place will go crazy instead of focusing on the shot, but it's all
a learning curve."

It was a smart (ok, some would say obvious) move pairing Karl
with Darren.

We need some eyes and ears on that side of the pond."

I'll see what I can do today JoeyA. I'll have my camera with me.
Let's see if I can capture some of the magic away from the TV cameras
that turns the Mosconi Cup into a fantastic live sporting event.

A few of things that stick out from the US side...

Johnny Archer's other half making a stand against the incessant
European chants. She didn't care, she just carried on.
Chanting back and smiling away.

Out of the corner of my eye seeing a down beat looking Johnny A,
standing alone on the balcony when Corey trailed three racks to Mika.
Sadly, he had moved on by the time Corey made the 2-9 combo.
I'm sure he would have exploded!

Rodney Morris doing a one handed press-up!

The US couple that were wearing the stars and stripes jumpers
jigging away with the kilt wearing Scotsmen.

There's a lot more, but honestly, you could sit through a full session,
having a beer or two and just observe the bigger picture away from
the table and still be entertained.

It's great, it really does feel like one long sporting party.

How about a sporting Mosconi Cup party in New York next year?
Now that would be great.

Now you're talking.
It never hurts to have another pair of eyes looking around. All of us see the same things, but often we see things differently. It's kind of like aiming. We all look at different things.

Your idea of a Mosconi Cup Party in New York sounds great. I've never been to New York. That would be one heck of a party. Does anyone know where the Mosconi Cup tournament would be held next year? York Hall sounds like a blast.

57th Street and 7th Avenue would be a great place to have the cueing artists perform.

Also, I enjoy your written word, describing what you see. Your words are probably far more descriptive than a camera shot (although those are also welcome). Even the great photographers have trouble capturing the moment on camera.

Thanks again for your contributions to this Mosconi Cup.

"I think Karl handled it really well... Actually him and especially
Darren seem thrive under the pressure, feeding off it"

Kimmo, I certainly agree with you now.

Hats off to Karl, considering it's a Mosconi Cup debut,
he has played an absolute blinder.

Sorry JoeyA, I'm running late, no time for an insight into yesterday.

Although one observation, towards the end of the afternoon session,
a bloke that's with Team USA popped across the road on a shopping
trip for a few between session boosts for the team. He bought a bunch
of bananas for Johnny Archer. Corey looked slightly disappointed
with bananas!

Mental note to self: Brilliant, that's JA's secret boost between
sessions, bananas!

Any word on the European Team's response to Boyes getting so close to beating Archer? Did the crown on Mrs. Archer's head light up when Johnny won. J/k I like your reports about what the camera isn't seeing.
