I have a spot coming up next year and would love to see some pics of different SW cues. Also, any suggestions on which combniations are the most desireable in the secondary market. Anything with ebony is not an option. Thx

Unfortunately, ebony is the answer. Get your own ebony pieces and ship them to SW, ha.

Unless you are on Laurie's extra good side this is not an option ;)

****Edit**** This is unless times have changed****

Fair enough, it was just a guess, I've never considered it. Ebony is still the answer. If it is not an option, pick expensive woods, that's about it. Go for classic contrast style and you should be fine.

please read the headline

hijack another thread please, types of combinations is what im after not "any contrasting colors". I also understand ebony is the best, but as i stated before it is not an option. Thanks for keeping this on point.

I went Alves with tulip wood points and butt with one natural veneer. There's an upcharge for the tulip wood, but it's what I wanted. I think there is a thread in the wanted/for sale section with pics concerning this if you want to run a search.

Get multiple veneers -- the Southwest cues look cheap, for a lack of a better description, with one veneer in my opinion.

You have waited this long so spend the extra to get rings in all positions, multiple veneers, slim butt. Whatever you like but don't skimp.

I have one that will be done by the end of the year -- I saw it partial back in July when I was out there. Cocobolo (and I asked it to be a darker stain) with Alves with black/yellow/white veneers.
