I have owned many Black cues and 1 Mottey. The Blacks were good pretty much but the Mottey I have played with for 20 years is the best playing cue I have ever owned.
 
i was 24 when diagnosed , had to wear a bag for 6 weeks, worst 6 weeks of my life. i have a j pouch made from small intestines and plumbing hooked back up . im 52 now . i did not till i found a FAP group on facebook , so many people have it and some major problems . and there is 4 different types ,
they are now in some hospitals doing an internal bag . i know i will never go back to one , horrible just plain horrible . tell your buddy you know someone with it and give him my best .
 
A Paul Mottey cue is the top named cue among the three names you mention.
And if it is only $300 more than the others, it most likely is a great bargain too.
His cues play the best of the 3 cue makers but again, everyone has an opinion.
