can anyone estimate about how much a paul mottey cue is worth?
10 yrs old good shape a little beat up
birdseye maple w/ 4 ebony points no veneers
cocobolo joint and butt cap
ebony butt sleeve

mottey jump break same age nice condition w/ couple rings only

can someone give me a ballpark figure on those cues??

Just as a reference I just bought a 3 year old Mottey 4 point 4 veneer 2 shafts w/ ivory ferrules for $1000

but is there such thing as a $300 mottey?? thats my question. i got a chance to buy both and a case for $1000. not sure if i can flip them for a small profit or not.

A $1000 is very cheap indeed. Pauls cues start at $1500 these days. I think it may even be a little more, his website has old pricing. You have to pay for quality but believe me, they are not over priced.

If you don't want the cues at a $1000, I will have them for definate.

PM me if you don't want them.

usage, junior.

it is a relatively plain used cue that's 10 years old. age only counts for antiques. however,,,,, you will get what the market can bear. best way to do it is find the price of a brand new one and mark off from there. to me,,,if a brand new one costs say $700, then $300 is all I'D pay for a 10 year old used one.

Please email me the specs and photos of the Jump/break cue, I want to purchase a Mottey Break/Jump cue.

Regards,
Charles

never seen a mottey like this one that is why i ask. cocobolo joints are rare for mottey in my experience.

my inclination, is to think that plain cues don't hold value. they are not "collectable/desirable". someone might want it to play with, but not because it's nifty....but that's just me. since added cost goes towards fancier design, then i don't see the point of spending extra for what is essentially a plain cue. but again,,,,that's just me.

Some of us like plain cues, who ever said collecting had to be fancy cues only???

Jim

I think the keyword here is 'beat up'. Exactly how badly beat up is it? From 1 to 10 with 10 being pristine new, how would you rate it?

I think if you can get the whole combo with the 2 cues having a rating of 8+, you should grab it.

well,,,jimmy-bo,,,,like i said,,,"that's just me", but i am an admitted cue collecting snob. i think it's very cute that you can derive so much pleasure from less than ordinary cuework.:)
