Today's Mooris are not the same Mooris of old....it's like they are completely different tips now.

I was a diehard Moori fan for years. About a year and a half ago, I switched to a Wizard tip. Very much like the old Mooris. No mushrooming, very long tip life, no glazing over of the tip, holds chalk for days. Also, much much less expensive than the Mooris. Marcus is currently selling these at an introductory price that is very hard to beat....I would suggest checking one out.

Yes
Barrie <- not a cuemaker

yes harder but i still dont like softs. i used to use old hards but now i use meduims.

i just switched to everests all together unless moori is specifically ordered

A customer was keen on comparing Soft Moori up against Soft Kamui and Medium Soft Kamui and the soft Moori was harder than both of them....

This was actually my experience when I installed the tips on three different shafts as well. Cutting/trimming the Soft Moori did feel much harder than the Kamuis I installed.

So I have left Moori behind now - Kamui all the way based only on the hardness. I'm not sure how the chalk holds on the Moori these day's since I simply can't manage to play with them...

Just my experience (Note I always played with Moori medium and soft earlier)

How do the Sniper tips compare with the Moori's. I am having a Sniper installed on my cue, and would love to hear from anyone who has used one.
Thanks.

i love snipers. some say they are hard to install but i havent had trouble. i think tiger products are great. i use mostly everest but as a softer tip i like sniper. when they break in the ball jumps off. dont really like kamui. i had one on a scruggs and the layers didnt seem to hold up and it played really soft. ive also seen pics on here of cues with kamuis and the layers turned blue just like mine. to me is seems like the layers are comming apart and chalk get in there

Well, I guess it's a matter of taste.

I have a batch of Kamuis which was bought from some one here on the forum, and they play's totally different then my last batch from another supplier.

I think I stored my tips from the last batch not good enough, where I just put them in a plastic organizer with lid on. Now I store them in metal tins/cans which again is stored in a vacuumed bag. It makes a difference.

So I guess the best is to try them out and see what you feel. I have tried Everest tip (they are now stock on OB-1 shafts) and they feel a little to hard for me.

But as mentioned, you have to try. I have however a general feel that the Moori's has changed for the worse and is not the dominant tip any more.

I use the Wizard tips as a Moori replacement and I am happy with them also. I've had a couple customers complain about Moori's not taking chalk like they used to. I used a tip pik and it took chalk a little better but I find them not like they used to be either.

I find if you moisten layered tips a bit on the very end before you blade them, they cut much smoother and even. personally i lick my finger and just touch it to the end of the tip...drives the chicks nuts at my booth too lol

I have found that the newer moories hadr arnt that grate 1 out of 7, but if u repress the slow thay are quite nice hold chak and little tooling, u can go throu them quick but its pool.

Thanks Rvan.

I've had recent experience with Moori hard tips and Snipers. I like the hardness of the Moori but I never miscued so much with a tip. Constantly have to rough the surface. Couldn't go two rack of 9 ball without risking a slip of the CB. Just installed 2 Snipers. I don't like the feel. Too soft. This is the medium/hard tip. I much prefer the feel of a click when the tip hits the CB. Like a golf ball pinging on cement. More feed back from the hit. I have adapted to the Sniper at 14 bucks a piece but when this on goes its off to a new company. Oh, I mentioned 2 Snipers right. The first one was like a sponge. I think it was flawed. If you press your thumb against it all the lams would look like they were going to separate. Don't usually do this to my tips but it just wasn't right. The hit sounded like flicking you finger into a sheet of paper. The second one is much tighter but still too soft for my taste. I used to use Triangles until a house man gave me a Bear tip? I think that is what it was called. I loved it! Still do. Its been on the shaft for a few years. Can't find them anymore and the house man is not sure if that was the name! But if you look and the layers (laminate tip) they are like half the thickness of the Moori and Sniper layers. Not sure if this is a clue to someone reading this.
So far i've been though LePros, Triangles, Champions (I like them for an non lam tip but hard to find), Elkmasters (wouldn't recommend), Moori and Snipers. And the only tip I like is the one that is about had it and around 6 years old. Go figure.
