Movie with some Pool Gambling

I just watched a newly released movie on DVD called "Turn the River" and it stars Famke Janssen (she played Jean in the X-Men movies) and one of the other people in the movie was Tony Robles.

Tony actually had a few lines in the movie. Nothing big, but he did get to speak in the movie.

The DVD case showed Famke on a pool table, but the pool part wasn't too good. It really was a sad story about a mother trying to get her son back, but Famke did beat a guy out of quite a bit of money playing one pocket and 9 ball. The shots of the pool games wasn't that good, but it was about pool and gambling.

Famke is a good looking woman and i'll admit I didn't figure the pool was going to be much, but with her in the movie I figured i'd check it out.

i saw the movie too. good for tony getting involved with a pool movie that is set in his home town. shame on the producers for portraying a one pocket matchup where the players call their shots. not to mention shame on the producers for having buback as the technical advisor when Tony Robles was already on the payroll as an actor.

the fundamental difference between this movie and the classic color of money and the hustler is that tom cruise and paul newman both looked like they could play a little, thus reinforcing the movie. Famke, as hot as she is, doesn't look like she can make a ball, let alone hustle pool. Special thanks to Willie Mosconi and Mike Sigel as technical advisors to the Hustler and Color of Money respectively, thumbs down to Buback for not at least getting Famke to have some decent fundamentals before filming the pool scenes.
