Thank you to all that responded. I ended up using a CC cutter and router. The rings did not move this time and so far look good. Before I used the router i tried the sandpaper and it was working but very slow with some heat. Seems like i should get a bigger file that is about an inch wide if i need to cut off that much stock. I will post some pics when I get it finished.
